Suicide Awareness Support Directory
Personnel from a large number of Support and Caring groups serving the Portlaoise area will display information in the Parish Centre over the weekend. Josephine Rigney, of the HSE Suicide resource service, will speak at the 7.30pm (Saturday) and 12.30pm Masses. The Parish Centre will be open after both those Masses. All are welcome to visit and acquaint themselves with the work of the various groups and all the ‘helping hands’ that are available in the community
The purpose of the weekend is threefold:
1. To heighten awareness that at any given time a number of people in our community are entertaining thoughts of Suicide.
2. To reassure those who may be having suicidal thoughts, that they are not alone and there are people and organisations who can support them.
3. To offer help and support to those bereaved by suicide
