More than 750 people crowded into the Cathedral of the Assumption in Carlow on Sunday August 4th for the Ceremony while others watched on large screens nearby.
Bishop Nulty said: “Today is a celebration of all that is good in a diocese – all that is so enriching in our church; all who gather today represent all that is good about parish and diocesan life.”
He said it was a time of transition and profound change in his life.
“The uplifting music, the grace of the liturgy, the decoration of the Cathedral continue a proud Kildare and Leighlin tradition, which speaks volumes to native and visitor alike this day. To everyone I simply say thanks,” .
MESSAGE FROM BISHOP DENIS NULTY
Last Sunday in Carlow was a wonderful occasion and I want, as best I can in these few short lines, to express my profound gratitude for what was a truly blessed day for me.
On behalf of my family and all who travelled to Carlow from outside the diocese, I want to give thanks firstly for the marvellous welcome and hospitality evident in every detail.
Everyone was hugely impressed by the organisation, the numerous volunteers, the decoration of the Cathedral and the other venues and of course the beautiful liturgy with its outstanding music.
In so many ways, it was a very proud day for our diocese as it was both a powerful and moving demonstration of the talents and the generosity of the faith community here in K&L.
My primary task in the coming weeks and months will be to visit all the parishes. I look forward to these visits and to other gatherings.
In conclusion, I just want to say again – many thanks, Míle Buiochas to one and all.
